S-STATSMODEL scholarship program
The S-STATSMODEL (Scholarships in Statistics and Stochastic Modeling) program is designed to increase the number of academically talented, financially disadvantaged students who complete graduate degrees in the department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). The program is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and provides need-based scholarship awards of up to $10,000 each year for up to two years to a cohort of three to four students who have demonstrated academic talent and the interest to pursue graduate studies. Students receiving this scholarship may also receive support from the department in the form of fellowships, teaching and/or research assistantships so that they can cover the full cost of attendance to UCSC. The application deadline for the 2010-2011 academic year is February 07, 2010.
Eligibility
Students must meet the following criteria to be considered for the S-STEM Scholarships:
- Must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, nationals, or refugees.
- Have documented financial need as determined by the UCSC Financial Aid Office based on federal need analysis rules and regulations (expected family contribution must be less than the cost of attendance to UCSC).
- Must have been admitted as a full time student in one of the graduated programs offered by the Applied Mathematics and Statistics department at UCSC.
Application procedure
We encourage you to apply for a S-STATSMODEL scholarship if you are interested in enrolling into one of our graduate programs and satisfy the eligibility requirements outlined above. To do so,
